Our eLibrary

As a member of Hastings District Libraries you are able to borrow from a large collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks in our eLibrary.

This is a free service to members of Hastings District Libraries. There are no charges to place holds on items and as they are returned automatically you do not incur overdue fines.


What are eBooks & Audiobooks?

  • An eBook is an electronic version of a printed book that is downloaded to your computer, tablet or smart phone. It may be transferred to a portable reading device such as a Kobo or Sony eReader.
  • An eAudiobook is an electronic version of a ‘talking book’. It is downloaded to your computer, tablet or smartphone and may be transferred to a portable listening device such as an MP3 Player or iPod.

ePukapuka Overdrive

eBooks and eAudiobooks

  • Download eBooks and eAudiobooks through ePukapuka OverDrive. This collection offers a wide range of titles including fiction and non-fiction for adults, young adults and children.

Wheelers ePlatform

eBooks

  • Download eBooks through Wheelers ePlatform. This new collection focuses on New Zealand publications and children & young adults titles.

Ulverscroft Digital

eAudiobooks

  • Download eAudiobooks to your PC or Mac. This new collection has an emphasis on UK audiobook titles and includes items by hugely popular authors such as Alexander McCall-Smith, Terry Pratchett and Anne Perry.

 
Borrowing

  • Check Software and App information for your device and collection. ePukapuka OverDrive requires Adobe Digital Editions or OverDrive Media Console. There is no other software required for Ulverscroft Digital.
  • Search the Hastings District Libraries Catalogue and click on the link from the item record or Browse - ePukapuka OverDrive, Wheelers ePlatform or Ulverscroft Digital Collections.
  • Login by entering your library card number and pin.
  • Download by choosing an item and clicking on it to borrow and download to your device.
  • Listen or Read at your computer, tablet or smartphone or transfer to a portable listening or reading device.

 

Reserves

  • Titles can be reserved (no charge) and you will be emailed when the title is available.
  • You cannot reserve a title you have on loan.
  • Reserves waiting to be issued expire after 14 days,


Loan Period

  • There is a 14 day issue period for eBooks and Audiobooks

eBooks and eAudiobooks are available 24/7 via our website from ePukapuka Overdrive, Wheelers ePlatform and Ulverscroft Digital.  No late fees!
